ABOUT
Tarin grew up in Seattle, speaking Swedish, hiking, skiing, and spending time in coffee shops. In high school, she fell in love with still photography and spent every moment she could in the darkroom.
She studied film with an emphasis on cinematography at Vassar College and Hampshire College, crewing on every project she could find. After working as a camera assistant for several years, Tarin transitioned to the lighting department and worked as a Local 728 member in both rigging and on set. She then went on to earn her MFA in Cinematography from the American Film Institute.
Tarin has shot a wide range of projects throughout the U.S. and internationally. Most recently, she completed production on DIG for Peacock, starring Amy Poehler and Hugh Laurie, which filmed in Los Angeles, Italy and Greece. Her recent television credits include NCIS: TONY & ZIVA for Paramount+ and The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3. She has also lensed Hulu’s The Other Black Girl, the sci-fi adventure series Paper Girls for Amazon, the Gotham Award-winning Blindspotting for Starz, and On My Block for Netflix as well as many others.
Her feature credits include Corporate Animals, which premiered at Sundance, and We Summon the Darkness, which premiered at Fantastic Fest.
In the commercial world, Tarin has collaborated with brands including COVERGIRL, DORITOS, TARGET, HONDA, DODGE, STARBUCKS, and DISNEY. She has also lensed music videos for artists including St. Vincent, Maggie Rogers, Death Cab for Cutie, The Decemberists, Chris Cornell, Lenka, Joss Stone, and Young the Giant.
Tarin currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two kids, and two cats.
